Mk1.5 (3SGTE) swap prices have gone through the roof. The go to used to be a stock Gen3, but motors are near impossible to find at a good price now that the cars they came in are legal to import. Gen3 ECUs have something aging out in them, maxing out around 220whp. Once you do a standalone, you're looking at a $20,000 build.
The best options currently for the Mk1 are a 2GR V6 Swap at 270whp and now 2ZR Turbo at 270whp.
The 2ZR can be done in stages - AW11 2ZR Swap.
The 2ZR makes turbo noises. On the other hand, 2GR makes 2GR noises.
The 2ZR is easier to drive - better throttle modulation with standalone ECU.
200whp on premium fuel, 270whp on E85.
This is a turn-key swap and includes the following.
2ZRFE engine with all required sensors and pieces
C59 transmission - internally gated 5 speed with taller highway 4th and 5th ratios
