These ARP main studs are made from 8740 chromoly steel and have a 190,000 psi tensile-strength rating. They are precision centerless-ground and thread-rolled to Mil-S-8879 specs, with a black oxide finish for corrosion resistance. The kits come complete with hardened washers and high-strength hex nuts.

The honest truth is that you don't need these until over 600whp. If you are using a 3S block these are a complete waste of money because your block will crack before the stock main bolts even become a problem. Also the #5 main studs will not clear the stock oil pan. Some people install just 1-4 and hope for the best. Some people modify their stock pans and some people buy the Morosso pan.
